Whilst academic success is at the heart of what we strive for, education is so much more; we aim to provide a wide range of stimulating activities to offer pupils the opportunity to extend their skills or learn new ones.

There is an activity period from 4.05 – 4.55 Monday to Thursday in which every pupil in the school can become involved.

Activities in the Senior School range from a school choir and drama clubs to world cookery and language clubs.  There is a full programme of sporting activities available and the creative arts are well-supported with art clubs, set design and even a Knit and Natter Club.  Pupils can learn a new language in German or Mandarin clubs or dive into the School’s 353-year history with the School History Club.

All pupils are expected to be involved in the activity programme and anyone not involved on a particular day are expected to attend a supervised prep session.

Lunchtime Programmes

At lunchtime pupils can participate in activities such as choir or Warhammer club.   A range of House Competitions, from table tennis to cooking and flag design to chess or Geography quizzes also provide a lot of entertainment!

Giving Read

Pupils at Read are actively caring and this is emphasised by their involvement in charity fund-raising.  Over the years, they have raised many thousands of pounds both for national charities, through Children in Need, Comic Relief, Race for Life and the Rotary Club, as well as charities closer to home, such as local hospices, food banks and good causes such as a local hedgehog sanctuary.
