On 18th June, young Luke Watts in 5RW achieved a phenomenal feat. Up against some of the best go-karters in the country, he won two heats, came 1st in one event, and 3rd in another. That’s two podium finishes at Fulbeck Kart Centre in Lincolnshire. Luke’s karting career has had a meteoric rise for one so young, he shows prodigious talent at a very early age.
Interestingly, perhaps the third place podium appearance was even more remarkable than the first, as in that race, Luke came off the track after rolling the Kart. He was examined by the medical staff and was then allowed back into the race. Just think for a second – how many seconds, even minutes, of time that must have cost him – and then marvel at the fact that he managed to get right back into the race and come third! A magnificent effort, and one which shows the grit and determination required to be a national competitor. Indeed, Luke secured the “E” Plate, which signifies that he is best in the country at his age for that race bracket (the Honda Cadet and Iame Cadet categories). Excellent Luke, keep it up, we will be looking out for you in the future.
