Combined Cadet Force
The CCF is a youth organisation which provides activities in school based on military concepts of discipline and training together with adventure training. Cadets have the opportunity to develop powers of leadership, and qualities of responsibility, self-reliance, resourcefulness and endurance.
The school has Army and RAF sections and all pupils in Years 9 and 10 are members of one of the sections. The training follows a programme recommended by each section commander and a wide range of activities is available including: rock-climbing, campcraft, hill-walking, map reading, first aid, orienteering, rifle shooting, and air experience flying.

Weekly training takes place in school and there are several opportunities to attend weekend training, brigade area competitions and camps at Easter and in the Summer both in the UK and overseas. The training is carried out by Contingent officers, and wherever possible by the senior cadets as part of their own training, supported by Regular servicemen from the Army and RAF.
The training support provided by the Services is of a very high standard. The availability of military facilities and expertise, and the significant funding by the MOD, enable many activities to be carried out at a fraction of the cost of equivalent civilian organisations even if they exist at all.
Certain activities of the CCF and elsewhere in school may also contribute towards the Duke of Edinburgh Award.
