Open Mornings

Open Mornings are held twice a year, when prospective pupils and their families are welcome to visit the school, have a tour of the buildings and facilities and meet the staff.

Directions

From the SOUTH, EAST or WEST

  • Use M62 (from South approach either from M18 or A1) and make for Junction 36 (Goole). At Junction 36, take the A614 (signposted Rawcliffe, Snaith), as far as next roundabout.
  • Take the second exit at this roundabout (signposted Drax, Selby). After approximately 3 miles, you will arrive at the roundabout outside Drax Power Station. Turn right (4th exit) into Drax village.
  • Pass Read School Lower Junior School and the girls’ Boarding House (Adamson House) on the right hand side, pass the church (on left) and continue on the same road, bearing left, for a further quarter mile. Read School is on your left. Welcome.

From YORK and the NORTH

  • Either use A1/M62 route and follow instructions as above, or make your way down the A19 from York.
  • At the roundabout on to the Selby bypass, take the 2nd exit and continue, over the river, as far as the next roundabout (near Selby Carpets). Take the first exit on to the A1041 (signposted Goole).
  • Continue on this road for approximately 5-6 miles to the village of Camblesforth. Take the second turning left after the Comus Inn, to Drax (clearly signposted). Go to the Drax Power Station roundabout and take the second exit into Drax village.
  • Pass Read School Lower Junior School and the girls’ Boarding House (Adamson House) on the right hand side, pass the church (on left) and continue on the same road, bearing left, for a further quarter mile. Read School is on your left.
