Evangeline Barnby was taking part in the Don Valley Music and Drama Festival at the weekend where she entered 14 different sections from reciting her own poem to singing in Italian, from classical to musical theatre. Over the course of the weekend she won 5 trophies and several more places including two other first places.
Evangeline was delighted to be invited to perform at the winners’ concert on Sunday afternoon. This is where all those performers who had attained the highest grade throughout the competition were to perform for another trophy. Evangeline was up against some very good performers and to our delight, she won! This was a fantastic achievement for Evangeline, but there was more to come! She was then invited to represent the festival at the British and International Federation of Festivals Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire Region Biennial Championships. Evangeline broke down in tears at this news saying that this what she had worked for since she first time she had stepped onto the stage at the age of six.
This had been a gruelling and emotional weekend, but it didn’t stop there. At 7:30 pm she would be performing at the Harrogate Festival Finalists’ concert.
