Commemoration Day 2012

We held our annual Commemoration Day celebrations on a warm and sunny day – completely contrast to the previous day when persistent heavy rain had almost spoilt the plans for the day.

Celebrating the founding of the school by Charles Reade in 1667, the day began with a church service in the village church.  The service was led by the Revd Jonas Mdumulla, and guest preacher this year was the former Bishop of Carlisle, the Rt. Revd. Graham Dow, who travelled from Manchester for the service.

Following lunch at the school, the annual prizegiving ceremony took place in the school’s Moloney Hall.  Pupils were presented with their prizes by the Rt. Hon. Andrew Percy, MP for Brigg and Goole, who spoke to the pupils about his life as an MP, and previously as a teacher in both Hull and Scunthorpe.
