Rugby at Read off to a great start!

Saturday 8th September saw training for all age groups at Read with fantastic results!

The new school rugby season saw the usual training and trials for all age groups from U12 to the First XV.  With a great turnout, Mr Garrard and co. were able to do a wide range of activities, aided by the excellent weather.  Activities included ball handling and work in the contact area as well as some necessary fitness!

Each squad did each skill, in a “round robin” format and competition and camaraderie were rife throughout, with props thinking they were all stand-offs in the handling and the tens trying to out muscle the props in the contact; neither enjoyed much success in these new endeavours!

All the squads benefitted greatly from the day and the hard work was liberally punctuated with fun. Rugby at Read is looking healthy this year with everyone looking forward to a very successful season. Will Milburn was appointed captain for the First XV with Rob Oliver as his Vice Captain.

Good luck lads!

Rob Oliver LVI
Vice Captain
