What fine weather for a lovely afternoon of quick fire cricket at Pocklington!
There was no time to take things easy for any of the 6 teams competing in this 30 balls per innings competition – that’s right, just 30 balls per team to get as many runs on the board! Read were paired with Pocklington and Terrington in group 2 and both games were close affairs, but unfortunately both ended in narrow defeats.
Pocklington 41 runs
Read 33 runs
Terrington 33 runs (with 6 balls left)
Read 32 runs
Both games proving that just one ‘cautious’ over with the bat can be very costly!
Nevertheless, Read progressed to play Scarborough who had finished 3rd in the other group.
After a dismal start and the loss of 2 very early wickets, Read recovered to finish on 38 runs. In came Scarborough to chase it down but they fell short….finishing on 27…with Read winning by 11 runs and therefore collecting the Bowl Trophy for winning the 3rd place final. Not quite the silverware we had hoped for but a nice addition to the collection back at school!
