Sixth Form Lecture Visit to York

On Wednesday 1 March, half a dozen Sixth Formers set off with Dr Staves and Dr Duggan to St Peter’s school in York to attend a biology lecture on “Growing and Regenerating Human Tissue: a New Frontier in Medicine.”

The speaker was Professor Kevin Shakesheff from the University of Nottingham and Pro-Vice Chancellor for Science. He is director of one of the UK’s leading centres for Human Regenerative Medicine. Kevin has also founded two companies to develop regenerative drugs and cells.

His lively and informative lecture highlighted the cutting edge of medicinal technology and covered the many disciplines which are involved in making this science work in the real world. It was well received by the students and general public who attended.
