Weeks of learning songs and dance moves resulted in a spectacular performance at Sheffield Arena last night for members of the Prep School, who took part in Young Voices 2017. There was an air of anticipation on the bus journey, as for many of them it was their first Young Voices experience. Stepping into the arena alongside 5000 (there were 5320 of them to be precise!) other children is quite a moment to remember and the excitement continued throughout the rehearsal in the afternoon as the children got to see who else would be performing with them.
Urban Strides dance group, who have performed world-wide, were helping the children out with their dance moves as well as performing routines of their own; Natalie Williams, a well-known soul and jazz singer, sang with the children and performed two amazing solos and Tabby Callaghan, an Irish rock star, who is a former X-factor contestant, had the whole place rocking (and ears ringing). The atmosphere during the concert in the evening was, as always, very special and I was extremely proud of the children’s behaviour and performance.
