GCSE Results @ Read; 92% Pass Rate

Year 11 pupils celebrated an impressive set of GCSE grades, despite the past two years being such a difficult and demanding time for all concerned.

Read’s GCSE cohort of 2022 achieved an overall pass rate of 92% with 51% of all grades 9-6. There were some fantastic individual pupil results with over 30% of the cohort scoring top grades of 9-7 across a wide range of subjects, including Sciences, Maths, Languages and Design Technology.  Several elusive grade 9s were awarded (higher than the old A*) with standout individual results across Sciences, Maths, German and PE.

Read is especially proud of the pupils with SEND included in this cohort and celebrated all talents today. Pupil, Kassie, recently achieved a Bronze ASDAN certificate at Read, after completing many hours of skills over two years including a British Sign Language certificate, Arts and Drama awards as well as a Functional Skills qualification in Maths.

Head Teacher, Ruth Ainley, said:
Our pupils' resilience, determination and good humour certainly deserve to be celebrated every bit as much as their results and they have earned a place in history as the first GCSE cohort to sit exams in two years.

We are thrilled that a number of Year 11 students are returning to study A-levels and BTECs in the Read School Sixth Form and we look forward to supporting them on the remainder of their academic journey.
