A Warm Welcome to Read Preparatory School.

We are delighted to welcome you to Read Preparatory School, where we have the privilege of working together as Joint Heads of our Pre-prep and Prep School, encompassing all our children from Reception through to Year 6.

We are the independent boarding and day school of choice in our local area. We are a school where children are happy, confident, and inspired to make the most of every opportunity.

At the heart of our school is a genuine commitment to knowing and caring for every child as an individual. We want our pupils to develop self-respect, confidence, and a deep respect for others. We believe that children flourish when they feel valued, supported and encouraged to be the very best version of themselves.

We are proud to offer a first-class academic education, with high expectations and ambitious goals for every pupil. We challenge our children to achieve the very best they can, whilst ensuring they have the encouragement and support they need to rise to those challenges. Academic success relative to ability is an important part of what we do, but we firmly believe that education is about so much more than the classroom.

Our children are encouraged to be curious, creative, and adventurous. We want them to experience a rich and varied education, both within school and beyond. They experience our Read education to the full through sport, music, the arts, outdoor learning, trips, activities, and the many opportunities that come from being part of our school community.

Just as importantly, we see our education as a partnership between school and home. We value our parents enormously and seek to involve you fully in your child’s educational journey. By working together, sharing successes, and supporting one another, we can give our children the very best foundations for the years ahead.

As Joint Heads, we feel incredibly fortunate to lead such a warm and vibrant community. From the excitement of a child’s first day in Reception to the growing independence, confidence and maturity of our Year 6 pupils. Every stage is special.

We look forward to getting to know you and your children. For now, come and have a look around, meet some of the people who make our school so special, and discover what makes Read such a wonderful place to learn and grow.
