Unexpected work travel, family emergencies, or simply needing a well-deserved break shouldn't cause stress.

Our doors are open even at short notice. With flexi-boarding at Read School, your child seamlessly steps into a safe, familiar environment with their peers—complete with home-cooked meals, evening study support, and comfortable accommodation - without disrupting their daily routine.

Why Choose Boarding?

Developing Independence

Boarders make lifelong friends, whilst studying and having fun. As a result, they develop into independent individuals who can confidently make their way in the world.

Building Friendships

The close bonds built during their time at Read are deep and long-lasting. Staying at the boarding house magnifies this wonderful opportunity.

Outstanding Teaching

Boarding allows young people to focus on their work in structured and supervised prep times, as well as enjoy many diverse extra-curricular activities, after hours. Better still, there's no commute!

International Boarders: a global community

At Read School, we proudly welcome pupils from across the UK and around the world. This rich blend of nationalities, perspectives, and cultures enriches campus life for everyone - broadening horizons and fostering genuine international understanding throughout the wider school community.

A Nurturing Home Away from Home

We provide a safe, happy, and supportive environment where every child feels valued, secure, and encouraged from day one. International boarders gain much more than an outstanding UK education:

  • Language Immersion & EAL: Pupils develop natural fluency in English through immersive daily conversation, supported by dedicated English as an Additional Language (EAL) provision.

  • Essential Life Skills: Living within our supportive boarding family builds self-confidence, cultural awareness, and independence.

  • A Smooth, Gentle Transition: We understand that moving to a new country can feel daunting. Our experienced House staff specialise in helping new boarders settle in quickly, calmly, and happily.

  • Settling In with Confidence: With decades of experience welcoming international families, our dedicated pastoral team provides personalised care during those crucial early weeks, ensuring every student makes friends and feels at home right away.
